As I pull up to the field the nerves start to kick in. This is the championship game at Hunsinger park. I see that most of my teammates are already there, I greet them and put my equipment bag underneath the bench. As I am grabbing my glove one of my teammates approaches me and if to warm up, I reply with a bland “Yeah, Sure” we jog out to the field and we start to throw the ball to each other. I'm thinking that we have to win this game or they will have defeated us again.

These guys are the Filmore Dodgers we have only played them twice in the whole 27-30 game season. And both times we played them we lost. First game was pretty bad but the second time around we only lost by about a point. And like they say “Third time's a charm”. As we are doing our cut off drills I am observing their arms and their fielding, stuff like that. When we are finished we all take a knee in a half circle around our coaches. I think to myself “This is the team to beat, throughout the whole season this is the only team we’ve lost to.” So our season was about 27-30 games and we only lost the 2 freaking times against this team, so to win the championship game against our “Rival” team would be pretty awesome!

Now it's time for pregame, since we are the home team Filmore takes the field first. Everything looks good except for their outfield, who keeps dropping or bobbling balls or making bad throws. Now pregame is that time to get that intimidation factor going so right now i'm feeling good. We can also see there starting pitcher warming up in the bullpen, he's throwing heat, as usual. But at this point i'm just trying to make sure that i do my job for my team so that we can get that “W”

The game starts. Innings one and two pass with no one scoring. Then something big happens we get bases loaded I'm on second and then one of my teammates hit a double which scores the player on 3rd and 2nd (Me). The score is 0-2 us, we are all feeling pretty good about what has just happened. Now they get the 3rd out and it's there turn to bat. We are all trying our best to hold them and make sure that they don't score. The next few innings pass and we fail to score. Later on we score 2 mores runs now the score is 0-4 us, and the last inning we squeaked one more run in and we held them down to 0 points. Now I just remember how happy and relieved I felt after out pitcher threw that last “K” we all ran to him and started screaming and now we knew we were the champs of Ventura Coastal Little League.
